And in December Laura from Newbridge Library came to the school and read a lovely story to the children and gave them each a book to bring home. We also had a visit from Sophie’s Granny who brought her guitar and sang some great songs with the children. In November William’s uncle – Garda Jon came in and talked to the children about different aspects of safety and about his job as a policeman. ![]() And to further scaffold to this Leah’s mum Misato will come in this term to talk to the children about her native country of Japan. Last term we had a visit from Leona (Soleil’s Mum) who introduced us to a new artist -Yayoi Kusama - from Japan and who is the ‘Queen of polka dots’ – you will see this theme run throughout our art next term as well. We have a table in the classroom called our ‘Table of Interest’ where children can place, for a couple of days, objects, books or other items that are of special interest to them and which they think other children might like to see (NOT TOYS).Īlso, if you have any particular hobbies or skills that the children would enjoy hearing about please let us know, or if you know anyone else in the community who could share something interesting with the children e.g., play a musical instrument, knit a scarf? If you, as parents, have any ideas or suggestions of subjects that you know your child has particular interest in and might like to explore further, please be sure to let us know as we value your input too. We constantly ask them for their input on the activities we are doing and what they would like to do next, and we record their answers if they don’t volunteer information verbally, we can gather the subjects they’re interested in through our observations of their play and activities and little snippets of conversations with their peers.
